What this is

A jam,
not a show.

FireFlow LA is a recurring, open fire jam. No stage, no audition, $5 at the door. Bring your props and your fuel, check in with an admin, and burn with people who love this as much as you do. Every spinner must have completed fire safety training before lighting up. Never lit up before? Come watch, ask questions, and spin unlit until you're trained.

All props

Poi, staff, fans, rope dart, hoop, dragon staff, fire breathing with a spotter. If it's fuel-safe and you're trained on it, bring it.

All levels

First burn or fifteenth year, as long as you've done fire safety training. Experienced spinners are around to help with fueling, first lights, and prop questions.

Safety first

Fire safety training is required before anyone lights up. A dedicated safety with duvetyne and extinguisher at every burn, a marked fuel station, and clear rules everyone follows.

Fire safety

  1. Fire safety training is required to light up.No exceptions. If you haven't completed training yet, you're welcome to watch and spin unlit. Ask any of the admins how to get trained.
  2. Check in with an admin before you light.Every burn has a safety standing by with duvetyne and an extinguisher. Don't light up if nobody is watching you.
  3. Fuel only at the fuel station.Dip, spin off excess into the spin-off bucket, then walk to the burn area. No fuel containers anywhere near open flame.
  4. Wear natural fibers.Cotton, wool, denim, leather. Synthetics melt. Tie back long hair and skip loose scarves and fringe.
  5. Know your prop and your space.Only spin props you've practiced unlit. Keep a clear radius and watch for other spinners and spectators.
  6. Sober spinning.If you've been drinking or otherwise impaired, you're a spectator tonight. No exceptions.
  7. Extinguish fully.Put out your prop in duvetyne or by spinning it out. Never leave a lit or smoldering prop on the ground.
  8. Fire breathing needs a spotter and a plan.Only trained breathers, with a dedicated safety, upwind, and away from the crowd line.
  9. Leave it cleaner than you found it.Pack out your fuel, rags, and trash. We keep our spots by respecting them.
